Folk Festival

my boyfriend and i went to the vancouver folk festival. well not actually into it but we shopped around the little booths. we were going to go in but decided not to and sold our tickets. we originally got them for 25 bucks each which is a good deal and got our money back. i only went for 1 day last year at night because i got back from hawaii the day before and was very jet-legged. but this year was much better. i actually bought something this year. i got a silver anklet for $3 and a long gold chain necklace with a green rock pendant for $25. the last day is always the best. i am definitely volunteering next year.

The Jale Berry

Ingredients:
1. 1/2 cup sugar
2. 7 blackberries
3. jalapeno slice, about 1/4 inch thick ice cubes
4. 4 oz. gin
5. 1 1/2 oz. lime juice
6. 1/2 oz. orange liqueur

Method:
1. combine sugar and 1/2 cup water in a small saucepan to make simple syrup
2. bring to boil, stirring to dissolve sugar, about 2 min. remove from heat. cool completely
3. in a cocktail shaker, muddle blackberries and jalapeno slice
4. add ice, gin. lime juice, 1 1/2 oz. simple syrup and orange liqueur
5. shake well and strain into martini glasses. garnish with a lemon twist

How To Get Gorgeous Skin

1. Apply... sun protection before leaving home. always use a moisturizer with 20 spf.
2. Eat... everything you put in your mouth affects your skin. too much refined sugar can weaken collagen and create brown spots so try honey instead.
3. Drink... lots of water! and green tea.
4. Always... read labels on skin products and avoid petrochemicals liek mineral oil and synthetic fragrances.
5. Never... go to sleep stressed. it shows up on your skin the next day. before bed meditate. it calms the mind.

Lemonade

Ingredients:

*1 cup sugar

*1 cup water(for syrup)

*1 cup lemon juice (4-6 lemons)

*3 - 4 cups water

METHOD

1 Make simple syrup by heating the sugar and water in a small saucepan until the sugar is dissolved completely.

2 While the sugar is dissolving, use a juicer to extract the juice from 4 to 6 lemons, enough for one cup of juice.

3 Add the juice and the sugar water to a pitcher. Add 3 to 4 cups of cold water, more or less to the desired strength. Refrigerate 30 to 40 minutes. If the lemonade is a little sweet for your taste, add a little more straight lemon juice to it.

Serve with ice, sliced lemons.

Serves 6.

today jessie and i went to the vancouver art gallery. tuesdays are by donation instead of paying $15. rembrandt's and vermeer's paintings were good. i preferred his landscapes than the portraits. the detail was incredible.
there were some watercolours that looked pretty realistic. they were my favourite.

jobs?

how come it is impossible to get a job here in vancouver? well i guess because all the students from college and university are done school so they applied in april. but even people with jobs can barely get shifts. the most people can get is 2 or 3 a week. and in the summer you are wanting mabye 5 or 6 at the most? i gues i gotta keep trying...

Why do cats poo on beds?

how come my stupid (but nice) cat, elvis, decided to take a nice crap on my duvet cover? I come home all excited to go to sleep when i smell this gross stench of cat poop. there may be many reasons for why he did this. probably because he wants to go outside and it was too late for him to go out or because he is too lazy to go to his litter box. or maybe the door was just locked and he couldn't get out. he could even be sick! hopefully this behaviour won't happen again.

my friend kadir just did it for the first time! pretty weird. another thing is to kick it from yuor foot onto a tall stick. my boyfriend did it.

July 4th

happy independence day all you american's! today i went to langara to write an english LET exam. hopefully i make it into the regular english... after the test i went to the SPCA to look at the cats and dogs. there was this one dog, half husky half something else. it had one white eye and one brown one. tooo cute. i wanted to take him home with me. i also saw a kitty that looked exactly like my black and white elvis. after that i went to the beach with jessie. such nice weather!

prom would have been better if my liver wasn't inflamed. for me i didn't find it to be as good as everyone made it out to be. it was basically grad with out the ceremony and parents. almost everyone behaved themselves. there were a few rowdy characters during the dinner. everybody looked great in their dresses and suits! glad i didn't miss it.
